  1. I am an avid fan, and fellow artist and he had been battling it for 8yrs. Its really sad to think someone that alive and full of life was actually battling cancer. He lost 3 lbs of bone in one surgery if I recall right. And he still took the time to do an interview right after the hospital declared him OK to go home. He was truely dedicated to his work and to his fans.

He is a person whom you can look up to as a roll model in a world where there aren’t many around. His artwork has helped me push myself to break into the comic book business. Not just for my love of drawing but because I would love to share my talent and let it tell stories that will fantasize and capture minds of all ages. I can only hope to be a fraction of the man Michael Turner was.

Rest in peace Mike..you deserve it most.

  2. I wasn’t a big fan of his art, but I highly respected the commitment he had to his fans. The last time I met with Michael he was in a type of rocking chair with a pillow at 2007′s WonderCon. He sat there and signed every single book fans put in front of them. He took time to shake hands and chat despite his unhealthy appearance. Later on, I believe I saw him walking around on crutches. It’s agonizing to know that no matter how hard Michael fought, he would eventually lose his battle to cancer. For this to happen to such a talented and generous human being upsets me.

Michael is responsible for getting many fans into comics. Heck, even our own news editor Daniel Yanez first discovered comic books in his home of Argentina because of Turner’s art. His contributions, talent, and friendly attitude will be missed by us all.

    Sleep well, Michael.
