Daredevil #113 – Review

By Ed Brubaker (Writer) Michael Larkand Stefano Gaudiano (Art) Matt Hollingsworth (Colourist) VC’s Chris Eliopoulis (Letterer) Marko Djurdjevic (Cover art)

The story: Part three of Lady Bullseye continues with the Hand and Lady Bullseye targeting Daredevil and his allies, Black Tarantula and Danny Rand, the Immortal Iron Fist. Matt Murdoch returns to his apartment to find that the mysterious Master Izo has incapacitated Black Tarantula, he then begins to explain that New York City is about to become “Hand Central Station!” Later, after saving Daredevil from the Hand, Izo and Black Tarantula discover a secret location along with a hitlist that includes Wolverine and Shang-Chi.

What’s good: I’m loving everything about Daredevil at the moment. This book probably has the finest supporting cast outside of Captain America, no surprise then that Brubaker also writes that book.

What’s not so good: There may be some people that claim that Ninja stories in Daredevil have been done to death since Frank Miller’s run in the early 80′s, but really, when they are this good who the hell cares? Daredevil vs Lady Bullseye and a horde of Ninja’s = greatness.

Conclusion: This really is a top quality book at the moment which just oozes coolness from every page. Brubaker’s script is top notch and Michael Lark provides suitably moody pencils to match. With possible future appearances by Wolverine and Shang-chi, this story could end with an amazing smackdown. Oh, and we end this issue with the shocking death of a hero that I didn’t see that one coming!
