W.C.B.R. Top Picks!

Ray’s Top Picks

Best of the Past Week: Unwritten #1 – It’s a $1.00 double-sized first issue that’s supposed to be “Sandman good.” What more can you ask?

Most Anticipated for this Week: Batman: Battle For The Cowl #3 – This week, hopefully we find out who assumes the mantle.

Other Top Picks: Superman/ Batman #60, Air #9, Batman: Mad Love and Other Stories Hardcover, Transmetropolitan Vol.2 (New Edition), and Captain America #50.

Kyle’s Top Picks

Best of the Past Week: The Wonderful Wizard of Oz #6 – The mini-series is so good that I’m starting to run out of words that can be used to praise it.  If you aren’t reading it monthly, then be sure to pick up the trade or hardcover down the road.

Most Anticipated for this Week: Four Eyes #3 – The mini-series by Joe Kelly and Max Fiumara is quickly turning into a true gem.  I highly recommend hunting down the first two issues so that you can enjoy (what I’m sure will turn out to be) one of the best dragon stories ever told right from the start.

Other Top Picks for this Week: Witchblade #127 (War of the Witchblades); Hack/Slash #22; Terror Inc. Apocalypse Soon #2; Wolverine: Weapon X #2; Thunderbolts #132; Agents of Atlas #5; Hotwire #3

Rob’s Top Picks

Best of the Past Week: Secret Warriors #4. Just an all-around awesome book. Well scripted and drawn. The new Hydra team looks like the most dangerous thing in the Marvel U right now. A winner all around and can’t wait until next issue when sparks really start to fly.

Most Anticipated for this Week: Four Eyes #3. My favorite book on the stands now. With more consistency it could be on my top all-time list. Love the characters, tone, art, story, pacing…well…everything about this book.

Other Top Picks for this Week: Amazing Spider-Man #594; Captain America #50; Fantastic Four #566; Hulk #12; Wolverine: Weapon X#2; Batman: Battle For the Cowl #3; Invincible # 62

Alex’s Top Picks

Best of the Past Week: The Unwritten #1 – Creative, intelligent, and like nothing else you’ve ever read, the Unwritten is not a comic to be missed.  From the team that brought you Lucifer, this comic totally delivered and looks to be a hit that Vertigo will be leaning on for some time to come.  An absolutely fantastic comic that teases the brain in a way that old Sandman fans will truly appreciate.  A great comic, and, it needs to be said, this first issue is double sized for $1.00.  Hell yeah!  Dive in!

Most Anticipated: Punisher #5 – Rick Remender’s first arc on Punisher comes to it’s final conclusion as the Punisher lays siege on the Hood.  Expect gritty, explosive, hellish action here.  There is an insane amount of good stuff coming out this week (my pull list is no shorter than ten books), but ultimately, I just kept coming back to that image at the end of Punisher #4 with Frank covered in bootleg Avengers gear.  I can’t deny the awesomeness.
