I agree with the review. We've seen high school fleshed out in more compelling series...for instance, Buffy's run on Fox. I'm all for identity crises, and the Philosophy class serves as a nice foundation for Stephanie/Batgirl to debate these issues...but a car race?

We need to see more push/pull. What happens when Stephanie decides not to don the cowl? Who gets hurt? Who fails to notice? We get a sense of this with the reporter who doesn't recognize her, and I hope that this scene is a tease not only of her own struggle with identity but of the recognition of those around her.

I'll stay around...only to see how Barbara digest the waffles and the fact that Stephanie is associated somehow with the riot...but I'll fly out of the (new) Bat Bunker if some darker themes aren't approached. Feminine doesn't mean passive and vanilla, DC. May be time to take a cue (or panel) from Marvel.

Thanks, this really helps - I'm a big Babs fan, and I've been agonizing over whether to invest in the new Batgirl run. Now I can take the spoiler (pun intended) of who Batgirl is, and choose to go into it with average expectations. Thanks again!
